If you know me already, then you might think “what Gokul is doing here at jamendo?”, If you don’t know me earlier, fine; let us know each other.

Well, two days back, when I was searching something (really I don’t remember), I found this place and it was for my surprise that musicians here provide their work absolutely free to their fans.

How is it possible? Are not musicians making money by selling music?

Sorry I just forgot to welcome you to this blog. I am a blogger too; this is my first blog where I write other than my own place.

OK, it is not musicians make all the money or they live by selling music. Off course there are exceptions.

Musicians don’t earn by making music; they earn because they make music.

There is no secret; you have to know this if you are a musician or not.

Musicians from different countries, from different culture earn a living or make a fortune by varying factors. Mostly musicians make money by “Gigs”, concerts, public performance; even a musician could play piano in a Church to make a living. It all different for different people. Unfortunately we live in a world of inequality.

Say, I sell my music; at stores, at my site. Sometime I giveaway music; sometime, I give some music for fans only, a fan exclusive music.

It does not matter whether you sell music or give it for free, there a purpose served. An artistic work reaches one. When a music lover gets a music he loves, it is all make him or her happy, it does not matter whether he pay for the music or not. That is entirely a different story.

What is a free music then? A free lunch?

No, people who take away some music serve two purposes, in musicians’ perspective.

1. A music lover gets what he or she loves; and it is the musician who makes the lovely transaction

2. The music lover takes the music with him; he or she is going to spread word about the musician if the music is good, and if the music is not good
Musicians take a risk when it comes for free music. What are they?

People would not respect something they get for free. It is basic human psychology. Secondly, free music is something one may download whether he or she likes it or not. I know some people make free download for the reason that they had a chance to get something free.

I know real music lovers are different. They make the world beautiful for musicians. You, the music lover make my world beautiful.

Asset of a musician is fan base. People who loves his or her music, people who knows him or her by name.

That is really a wonderful relationship as far as I am concerned. Fans make meaning for a musicians’ work.

I have uploaded two albums, each having two instrumental songs. They are for free. Absolutely free. What is more special in these free albums are they are absolutely legal and free. A rare combination these days.

So, you take the music; and let me know how it is. That simple. I have my stores at Amazon, eMusic and other places.

There are only two kinds of places where I share music with my fans.

People purchase music; people could listen but not download. And this is the first place I share some music for free.

I just wanted to try this. I may bring some of my stuff which is presently on stores to this place in near future; who knows? Probably that would happen I guess. And, this place, is being shared by me with people I have some kind of contact.

As this blog is titled an ‘honest truth’, we have an agreement. You take the music for free. I expect you to give me the pleasure of making you happy. So I request you to do two things.

1. Play before you download; If you don’t like a song, leave it, please doesn’t download something you don’t need.

2. If and only if you download, then you are going to give me a feedback. Be honest in giving your opinion about the compositions

On your right, you see two albums. Click them and go ahead. Happy listening.

Cheers,
Gokul

EDIT: Just drop your comment down; This free music is not for commercial use
